I believe that therapy is most powerful when both the therapist and client feel comfortable being their authentic selves so that a deep connection can be formed. Having a space where you are able to explore the most vulnerable parts of yourself without fear of being judged or disregarded is the most important part of the therapeutic process. My goal as a therapist is to provide a place for you to explore your past experiences and gain insight into your behaviors so that you can better understand yourself and make positive changes in your life.

She utilizes interventions from Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients better understand themselves and learn strategies to more effectively cope with life stressors.

Dr. Stevens has extensive experience working with the emerging adult population and helping her clients navigate childhood trauma, life changes, and interpersonal relationships. Her training has equipped her with advanced therapeutic skills to effectively treat a variety of problems and disorders, including trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, body image, interpersonal concerns, self-esteem, OCD, emotion regulation, and grief.

Lasting Change for Individuals

Dr. Stevens believes that lasting change comes from cultivating insight into what makes you, you. Drawing on multiple therapeutic models, Dr. Stevens collaborates with clients to examine how their early developmental experiences have influenced their self-perception, relationships with others, and understanding of the world around them. She is passionate about helping clients work through trauma, better manage their anxiety, and cultivate hope for a better future. She utilizes strategies from CBT, ACT, and Mindfulness to help clients better manage the symptoms, allowing for deeper, insight-oriented work to be done.

Meaningful Change for Couples

In addition to her individual work, Dr. Stevens is trained in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), one of the most prominent and evidence-based therapies for couples. Dr. Stevens is passionate about helping couples understand how their unique childhood experiences impact the way that they show up in their current relationship. She incorporates Attachment Therapy with EFT to help clients understand their communication styles and identify the underlying cycle that keeps them stuck in repeated arguments. Through working with Dr. Stevens, you can expect to gain a better understanding of how your past shapes your behaviors in your current relationship, how to improve your communication with your partner, and how to feel more emotionally connected with one another. Dr. Stevens is passionate about working with couples of any sexual, gender, or relationship orientation.
