Adult Children of Alcoholic or Substance-Affected Parents Group
Group Therapy for Adult Children of Alcoholic or Substance-Affected Parents
Growing up in an alcohol or substance-affected home can shape the way you relate to yourself, your emotions, and other people long into adulthood. You may appear high-functioning on the outside while still feeling anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of yourself underneath it all.
This therapy group is designed for adults who want to better understand how their early environment may still be affecting their current relationships, emotional patterns, boundaries, and sense of self. In a supportive and clinically grounded setting, participants will have the opportunity to explore these experiences more deeply and begin moving toward healing.
You May Relate If...
Growing up with a parent affected by alcohol or substance use can leave patterns that continue long after childhood. You may relate to this group if you:
Struggle to trust others or feel safe being emotionally close
Shut down, avoid conflict, or people-please when emotions run high
Constantly second-guess yourself
Feel overly responsible for other people’s emotions
Carry guilt, shame, or self-blame that is difficult to explain
Notice old survival patterns showing up in present-day relationships
You are not alone. These are common responses to traumatic experiences, and help is available.
If these experiences feel familiar, you are not alone. This group is designed to help participants better understand these patterns, feel less isolated, and begin building new ways of relating to themselves and others.
